| Advanced Pain Centers has innovated the use of an old anesthetic procedure called the Stellate Ganglion Block (SGB) for new conditions. The SGB has been been modified by Dr Lipov to improve safety and has been designated by Dr Lipov as the Chicago Block. Chicago Block is done higher on the neck (away from the lungs and arteries in the neck) than the SGB for increased safety. Dr Lipov has also found, through extensive research, that only the right sided injection seems effective and the dose of the anesthetic injected can be reduced to increase safety and maintain efficacy. He and his team were the first in the world to use and publish results of successful treatment for control of hot flashes (due to menopause and/or breast cancer) and post traumatic stress disorder (PTSD). The efficacy of Chicago Block for hot flashes has been verified in studies by the Belgium team in 2009 and the Mayo Clinic in 2010. Also, the efficacy of the Chicago Block for PTSD has been verified in a study by Walter Reed in 2010. Chicago Block has been succesfuly used to treat the following : smoking addiction, infertility, abdominal pain, obesity. Those applications are being studies at Advanced Pain Centers at this time. |
