Neurostimulators
Dorsal column stimulator {DCS} has been used for many years to control leg pain after surgery in the spine (over 25 years). Its main limitation had been the lack of coverage for the back.
Recently, a new development in the treatment of chronic low back pain using peripheral nerve field stimulation has become available.
In a recent paper, efficacy of peripheral nerve field stimulation (PNFS) for the treatment of chronic lower back pain has been shown to be significant.
PNFS is becoming increasingly recognized as a safe, minimally invasive, and easily reversible treatment for a variety of chronic pain conditions. Leads are placed superficially in the region of maximum pain, as identified by each individual patient.
Advanced Pain Centers offers the following information on neurostimulators as treatment for chronic low back pain. Please contact us for further information on how we can treat your pain.
- Three Types of Neurostimulators
- Dorsal Column Stimulator (DCS)
- Periferal Nerve Field Stimulation (PNFS)
- Hybrid
